Flood in Faridpur: Crops worth over Tk 10cr damaged in 6 upazilas

According to data from the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Faridpur, floods have damaged various crops covering 1,852 hectares of land in six of nine upazilas. Aus rice was grown on 1,368 hectares; Aman rice 374 hectares; banana 27 hectares; green chilly 15 hectares; and various vegetables on the remaining 67 hectares. In total, 11,051 farmers own the croplands in six upazilas. The affected include 5,000 in Bhanga, 2,263 farmers in Sadarpur and 1,510 in Sadar. There are also 943 Charbhadrasan farmers, 210 in Madhukhali, and 1,125 in Alphadanga. Farmer Bilal Paul from Manna Mandal Dangi village, Sadar upazila said that he spent Tk 172,000 to cultivate Aus paddy in his two bighas. It was all destroyed by the floods."
